NHS Borders Health Charity.....Coming Soon!

For the past 15 years, The Difference has been the registered ‘known as’ name for Borders Health Board Endowment Funds. As the official charity of NHS Borders, ‘The Difference’ has been the public face of many successful appeals including the funding of a new birthing pool, the refurbishment of the Dialysis Unit, raising the final million pounds to build the Margaret Kerr Unit and, most recently, the Macmillan Centre refurbishment.

Over recent years the charity team has been working on strengthening the charity's governance in line with current charity standards, providing foundations for better support when accessing and spending funds and reviewing and rationalising our fund structure to help the funds we have to go further and help more people.

What you might not realise is that the Difference is the umbrella charity that supports all wards, services and departments across all of NHS Borders and that as a charity, we have invested over £2.1m in NHS Borders services and staff in the past two years alone.

We know we need to get better at sharing this information, at helping you understand who we are, what we do and how we do it. We also know that if we want to realise the scale of our ambition we need to raise more money so that we can better support all services across NHS Borders, not just those that traditionally receive donations. That is why the first step in this process is to make ‘who we are’ easier to understand, starting with selecting a name that conveys our identity as clearly and simply as possible.

Over the coming weeks The Difference will be relaunched with the new name of NHS Borders Health Charity.

More on this coming soon!
